Role overview
This opportunity sits within a capital projects and infrastructure consulting team in Dublin and focuses on advising clients on procurement across large-scale construction and infrastructure programmes. The role is suited to someone with deep experience in public procurement, contract management, and commercial risk, particularly in the construction environment.
You will work with a varied client base across sectors such as energy, utilities, transport, housing, and healthcare. The goal is to support clients through procurement, construction, and operational phases by providing specialist guidance, shaping procurement strategy, and helping deliver successful project outcomes.
What you will do
- Advise infrastructure clients on procurement strategy, procurement execution, and best-practice sourcing approaches.
- Support the full procurement cycle for capital projects, from identifying needs and planning to running competitive processes and negotiating contracts.
- Make sure procurement activities comply with Irish and EU public procurement rules, guidelines, and regulations.
- Assess the market, including supplier capacity and capability, to determine whether it can meet the client’s requirements.
- Review contract forms and recommend the most suitable contracting approach for each assignment.
- Work with project teams to create contract management plans that align with programme goals, timelines, and budget limits.
- Lead or support contract formation, including reviewing and negotiating terms with contractors and vendors.
- Identify contractual and commercial risks early, then work with stakeholders to reduce their impact on delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- Contribute to client account activity, financial oversight of engagements, quality controls, and risk management.
- Support business development through proposals, presentations, and relationship building with existing and prospective clients.
- Help develop and motivate teams through coaching, mentoring, feedback, recruitment support, and training activities.
Experience and qualifications
- A third-level qualification in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Law, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role.
- Hands-on experience in public procurement, contract management, or contract administration within the construction sector.
- Exposure to major capital investment projects and experience working under public procurement requirements.
- Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams and handling several priorities at once.
- Strong working knowledge of industry conditions and market dynamics.
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and risk management ability.
- Proven ability to apply compliance standards and manage tender documentation carefully.
- Ability to identify savings and deliver targets by improving procurement strategies.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- A procurement professional qualification such as CIPS, Kings Inns, or an equivalent credential would be helpful, but it is not mandatory.
- Additional advantage if you have consulting or other client-facing experience, UK/Irish/EU public procurement knowledge, and wider exposure to project management, change management, or dispute resolution.
