Overview
Convergint is hiring a full-time, energetic, results-oriented Security Solutions Estimator to join its team in Windsor, Ontario. This position serves as a link between junior estimators and senior design/estimating professionals, with responsibility for building precise cost estimates for large RFPs, greenfield work, and other complex security scopes. The role is centered on programmatic customer accounts and calls for solid technical knowledge, ownership of estimating tasks, and close teamwork across departments.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for large RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes across global accounts and sectors such as data centers, healthcare, financial services, utilities, and education.
- Take responsibility for medium to large opportunities involving programmatic customers, acting as the bridge between entry-level estimating and senior technical estimating teams.
- Review project requirements, specifications, and technical documentation to fully understand the scope, risks, and deliverables.
- Work closely with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management to ensure estimates reflect realistic costs, resources, and schedules.
- Assess project scope, interpret drawings and blueprints, analyze cost implications, and make pricing and feasibility decisions.
- Join site visits, pre-bid meetings, and technical conversations to better understand project conditions and unique needs.
- Build accurate bills of materials so account executives can gather pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and partners for materials, labor, and services aligned to specifications.
- Spot scope gaps, delivery risks, and value-engineering opportunities, and propose practical solutions.
- Coordinate with installation teams to confirm the practicality and accuracy of estimates.
- Apply working knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements relevant to the industry.
- Keep up to date with security technologies, market standards, and product pricing trends.
- Prepare and present clear and accurate proposals for internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or system design within electronic physical security, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems.
- Experience handling large RFPs, greenfield projects, and programmatic customer work.
- Strong understanding of sector-specific needs in areas such as healthcare, data centers, government, education, and banking or financial institutions.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, and technical scopes.
- Comfort using estimating tools, Excel, and project collaboration platforms.
- Working knowledge of materials, labor pricing, and subcontractor coordination for physical security systems.
- Ability to identify project risks, suggest value-engineering options, and help meet profitability targets.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to handle several projects and deadlines at once.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
- Self-starter mindset with a commitment to improvement and strong delivery results.
- Field experience is considered an advantage.
- Bilingual ability is considered an advantage.
- Ability to obtain reliability and security clearances is considered an advantage.
