Product Development Manager - Wovens

The company is looking for a motivated Product Development Manager for woven apparel to help move products from concept through a production-ready handoff to the sourcing team. This role partners closely with Design, Raw Materials, Merchandising, Planning, Technical Design, Sourcing, and Quality to deliver strong product outcomes. You would oversee 2 to 3 quarters of development at once and help guide the team through each stage of the product lifecycle.

The role reports to the Director of Product Development.

Key responsibilities

• Work across Design, Technical Design, Raw Materials, and Merchandising to develop the strongest possible product while balancing quality, innovation, sustainability, and cost.
• Keep product development moving on schedule and aligned with design intent, while proposing practical alternatives for construction, finishing, and pricing.
• Maintain strong working relationships with external suppliers through email and phone communication.
• Lead initial costing, time-and-action calendars, and the internal tracking tools used to support cross-functional visibility and communication.
• Oversee seasonal development milestones, including long-lead calendars, and resolve development constraints with creative solutions.
• Track style development ratios so business priorities are met and workload stays balanced.
• Own tailoring sample and mock-up requests that help evaluate new material options alongside Raw Materials and Quality.
• Maintain final bills of materials within the PLM system.
• Handle lab dip approvals, trim approvals, and sample yardage tracking throughout development.
• Coordinate with Raw Materials and Sourcing to ensure the right factory and mill allocations.
• Work with Raw Materials to support sustainability goals and cost targets.
• Manage booking through manufacturing with suppliers.
• Partner with Planning and Merchandising on late deliveries, short shipments, chase orders, and cuts.
• Support and mentor team members by guiding through influence.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of product development experience in woven apparel; outerwear experience is a plus.
• Strong ability to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams.
• Genuine interest in product details and a sharp eye for quality.
• Entrepreneurial, resourceful mindset with the ability to improve and implement processes.
• Solid capability in cost negotiation and time management.
• Working knowledge of PLM, Google Sheets, and Airtable.
• Comfort in a fast-moving environment and adaptability when priorities change.
• Excellent organization, punctuality, and attention to accuracy.
• Helpful if experienced with wet and dry processing.
• Willingness to travel internationally and collaborate with diverse cultures.

Additional information

This is a full-time position based in the Los Angeles office headquarters. The role follows a hybrid schedule, with at least three in-office days each week from Tuesday through Thursday.

Compensation

The annual salary range for California is $81,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation may differ based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
