Role overview

The Payroll Implementation Associate manages payroll implementation projects from start to finish, ensuring delivery is timely and meets a high quality bar. Working arrangement

This is an office-based role with three days per week required in the contracted office location. Candidates can be based in Munich or Berlin. Responsibilities

  • Own the timeline, milestones, and delivery of payroll implementation projects independently.
  • Create, update, and organize project records such as blueprint materials and handover documentation.
  • Spot potential risks or schedule slippage early and work with teammates or the lead to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure smooth transition to Payroll Support by documenting best practices and addressing open issues.
  • Join retrospectives, capture lessons learned, and help improve team processes over time.
  • Act as a first point of contact for everyday implementation questions and blockers.
  • Work with functional partners to resolve issues and keep everyone aligned.

Requirements

  • About 2 years of experience in payroll implementation or a similar customer-facing payroll role.
  • Proven ability to manage payroll implementation projects independently end to end.
  • Exposure to process improvement work and participation in retrospectives or enablement sessions.
  • Experience working across functions and coordinating with different stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of payroll implementation steps and workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with project tracking tools such as Rocketlane, Jira, or Asana.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including blueprinting and handover notes.
  • Basic knowledge of risk spotting and mitigation in implementation projects.
  • Native-level German or C2 proficiency, plus fluent business-level English.
  • Excellent organization and time management to juggle multiple projects and priorities.
  • Clear communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset, with willingness to share knowledge and ask for input when needed.
  • Openness to feedback and a commitment to personal growth.
  • Proactive approach to raising concerns and suggesting improvements.
