Role Purpose

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will take charge of on-site mechanical engineering activities for construction projects. This role covers HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and associated building services, ensuring all work follows approved drawings, project requirements, statutory rules, and safety practices. The position also supports team development, subcontractor coordination, multidisciplinary collaboration, and delivery of work to the expected standard, timeline, and budget.

What You Will Do

• Direct and monitor mechanical site operations in line with drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
• Lead engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Manage HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and related mechanical systems on site.
• Plan and distribute manpower, materials, and tools efficiently.
• Work closely with civil, electrical, and architectural teams to maintain coordination.
• Assess shop drawings, submittals, and method statements, and provide technical input.
• Support value engineering and recommend workable technical solutions.
• Oversee testing and commissioning activities for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate inspections and approvals with consultants and clients.
• Ensure O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and handover records are fully prepared.
• Apply QA/QC procedures and maintain compliance with relevant standards and regulations such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA.
• Carry out inspections and close out non-conformities.
• Prepare schedules, progress updates, and project reports.
• Track productivity, identify risks, and implement corrective measures when needed.
• Keep project documentation accurate and up to date.
• Follow HSE requirements, run safety briefings, and manage site risks.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical works and attend client and stakeholder meetings.

Experience and Skills

The role calls for strong hands-on exposure to MEP construction projects, leadership capability, and the ability to coordinate multiple teams while maintaining quality, safety, and cost control.

Certifications

Qualifications such as LEED or PMP would be beneficial, though they are not compulsory.
