Role Overview
This position is for an accomplished Manufacturing Engineering Manager to oversee engineering support across new product introduction, automation, facilities, and large-scale production in a busy electronics manufacturing setting in Shannon, County Clare, Ireland. The role reports to the Chief Operations Officer and is central to improving manufacturing performance, scaling operations, and providing technical direction across the site.
New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Steer manufacturing engineering support from the design stage through to full production launch.
- Lead design-for-manufacture and design-for-test activities while building processes that can scale effectively.
- Contribute to PFMEA work, process validation, control plan development, and production transfer.
- Keep NPI programmes on schedule, within budget, and aligned to target yield outcomes.
Automation and Continuous Improvement
- Help shape and deliver automation plans for manufacturing and test operations.
- Spot and drive improvements that raise throughput, quality, and efficiency through automation.
- Champion ongoing improvement efforts across the manufacturing function.
Facilities and Production Support
- Support site expansion, line layout optimisation, and related infrastructure initiatives.
- Provide expert technical input when complex production issues or escalations arise.
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to strengthen overall manufacturing results.
Leadership
- Manage, coach, and grow a high-performing manufacturing engineering team.
- Encourage a working culture built on accountability, teamwork, innovation, and operational excellence.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing.
- At least 3 to 5 years, or more, in an engineering leadership position.
- Strong background in NPI industrialisation, automation initiatives, manufacturing process development, and production support.
- Proven ability to manage stakeholders and solve problems effectively.
- Experience overseeing capital projects and leading continuous improvement work.
