Laboratory Assistant

Dynacare is hiring a Laboratory Assistant for its Corunna, Ontario site. This position is part of a team focused on health and wellness services that are accessible, practical, and centered on patient care. What you’ll do

• Handle blood samples and other laboratory specimens efficiently and accurately.
• Record requisitions and test results correctly and within required timelines.
• Deliver supportive, empathetic customer service to help patients feel comfortable during what can be a stressful experience.
• Use skilled venipuncture techniques to collect blood samples in line with the organization’s mission and values.
• Organize and route specimens, and carry out ECGs, Holter hookups, paternity testing, urine collection, drug screening, and breath alcohol collection.
• Prepare specimens and documentation according to standard operating procedures so they are ready for data entry and transport to the laboratory.
• Follow established rules for handling both acceptable and unacceptable samples.
• Protect confidential information and support departmental and corporate quality, compliance, and performance goals.

Role details

• Status: Permanent, part-time.
• Guaranteed hours: 24 hours per week.
• Shift timing: Day shifts, varying between 7:45 am and 4:30 pm.
• Workdays: Monday to Saturday.
• Work location: 208 Hill Street, Corunna, ON, N0N 1G0.
• Discipline: Laboratory and Health Services Centre.
• Number of openings: 1.
• Expected start: ASAP.

What you should bring

• Secondary school completion plus a Laboratory Assistant training program or Medical Lab Assistant training with specialized phlebotomy instruction.
• A strong customer-first mindset and genuine concern for patient well-being.
• Confidence in phlebotomy and the ability to support anxious patients in a calm, reassuring way.
• The ability to organize your work, meet deadlines, and manage priorities independently.
• A high level of attention to detail.
• Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, so you can give instructions clearly to patients.

Pay and hiring note

The hourly pay range for this position is $21.00 to $24.75. The final offer will depend on factors such as experience and education. Dynacare also notes that AI-based tools may be used during recruitment, but candidates will not be contacted directly by AI.
