Role overview
This position is for a Junior Engineer based in Gurgaon, Haryana, supporting project monitoring and execution for interior fit-out and real estate construction assignments. The role reports to a Sr Associate, Sr Manager, or AVP and requires regular site-based coordination, review of progress against plan, and timely delivery of quality outputs.
Qualification and experience
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture, or a Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. A background of 1 to 3 years in interior fit-outs or real estate construction is expected. Candidates from consulting firms, IPCs, real estate advisory firms, technical teams of financial institutions, or real estate developers are preferred.
Key work areas
The role focuses on field monitoring, civil execution support, documentation, billing checks, and coordination with project stakeholders. The candidate will visit sites to gather first-hand information, assess progress, track schedules and costs, and highlight gaps between planned and actual outcomes. The position also involves preparation of measurement sheets, reports, trackers, and other project documentation using MS Office.
Project monitoring and execution
- Conduct on-site visits to collect primary project data and assess overall progress.
- Track timelines, cost movement, and budget performance, and call out deviations from the approved plan.
- Support execution activities and coordinate with team members to deliver assignments within agreed timelines.
- Oversee civil aspects of fit-out work such as structural changes, flooring, partitions, and ceiling installations.
- Stay current on developments in construction methods, materials, and technology.
- Be willing to travel frequently, including across locations in the South Zone when needed.
Documentation, billing, and compliance
- Prepare measurement sheets, status reports, and project trackers with accuracy.
- Check quantities used on site against BOQ or project drawings and identify material or method deviations.
- Review contractor and supplier invoices along with supporting documents for materials, labour, and services.
- Help ensure that work follows local building codes, safety norms, and company standards.
- Monitor quality and flag concerns related to materials, workmanship, or regulatory compliance.
- Verify that bills and construction practices meet IGBC requirements wherever applicable.
- Confirm that materials, products, and site practices align with IGBC certification guidelines when relevant.
Required competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound problem-solving ability and analytical thinking.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Good understanding of civil engineering fundamentals, construction methods, and building regulations.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Comfort working on-site with flexibility for extensive travel between project locations.
Additional requirements
The candidate should have practical knowledge of construction contracts, billing processes, and IGBC standards. Familiarity with environmental, safety, and quality procedures used on construction sites is also expected. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with different teams are important for this role.
