Position Summary
This opportunity is for a Junior Architect or an Architectural Technologist with 10+ years of experience to contribute to the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of construction projects from early concept through completion. The role calls for solid technical expertise, experience with construction detailing, comfort working with consultants, and the ability to support both design development and construction administration.
You will work alongside project managers, consultants, clients, and construction teams to help produce code-compliant, practical, and high-quality projects across residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, and modular sectors.
Responsibilities
- Produce and manage architectural drawings, permit sets, and construction documentation using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
- Prepare thorough plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and specification documents.
- Liaise with structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil consultants to keep project information coordinated.
- Contribute to early-stage design, space planning, and technical issue resolution.
- Assess building code obligations, zoning rules, and permit submission requirements.
- Carry out site visits, field measurements, and construction observation tasks.
- Review RFIs, shop drawings, and submittals and provide responses during the construction phase.
- Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and overall project coordination.
- Support construction administration and contract documentation activities.
- Guide junior drafting or technical team members when needed.
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all project documentation.
- Work closely with internal teams, contractors, and clients through all stages of the project.
Requirements
- Diploma in Architectural Technology or a degree in Architecture.
- Relevant experience in the industry.
- Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction techniques, and detailing practices.
- Background in preparing permit packages and construction drawing sets.
- Excellent communication, organization, and coordination abilities.
- Capability to handle several projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Experience in modular, commercial, residential, or industrial projects is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration with, or eligibility for registration in, the relevant professional association is an asset.
- Exposure to BIM coordination and consultant management is preferred.
- Experience in construction administration and field review is beneficial.
- Familiarity with municipal permitting procedures and Canadian building codes is an advantage.
