Role overview
This senior post oversees the full Quality Control and Assurance function, making sure it operates effectively, meets current legal and regulatory standards, and supports the wider business. The role also carries responsibility for quality leadership across operations and for strengthening the organisation’s quality management framework.
The post holder is the designated Quality Controller for the MHRA Manufacturer/Importer Authorisation (MIA), Specials Manufacturing and IMP licences, with duties aligned to the latest MHRA Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors. The role also acts as the named Responsible Person for the Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (WDA(H)) licence, with responsibilities under Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Quality contributes to the strategic direction of the business and service, and may be asked to lead special projects by the Managing Director. The role also includes emergency out-of-hours cover when required.
Managerial responsibilities
This position has line management responsibility for headcount within the Quality Control and Assurance teams. It involves ensuring that all quality activities are managed in line with national requirements and statutory obligations, while also overseeing risk management across the services under the post holder’s remit.
