Role overview

Village Roadshow is hiring a full-time Groundsperson for Movie World in Oxenford on the Gold Coast. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in neat and attractive grounds, and wants a schedule that finishes early while still providing full-time hours. The pay range is $28.29 to $31.12 per hour, depending on qualification and experience.

What you will do

• Begin work early in the morning, typically between 5:00 am and 5:30 am, and usually finish around 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm, with an even earlier finish every fifth shift depending on operational needs.
• Carry out landscaping and garden maintenance tasks across the park.
• Mow lawns, trim hedges, apply spraying treatments, and complete general labouring duties.
• Use, care for, maintain, and clean hand tools and machinery used in grounds work.
• Help maintain visually appealing outdoor areas with energy, attention to detail, and pride in the work.
• Follow workplace policies and procedures to help keep the parks safe and well presented.

What the employer is looking for

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors and has a strong interest in creating and maintaining attractive garden spaces. A Certificate III in Horticulture is preferred, but practical experience and enthusiasm are also valued. Experience in horticulture, grounds maintenance, or landscaping is important. A manual driver’s licence is highly desirable, and additional capability with equipment such as a bobcat, excavator, backhoe, truck, or tractor will be an advantage. The role also requires a strong focus on workplace health and safety, good physical fitness for hands-on work, and a reliable, flexible attitude for early starts, weekends, and school holidays.
