Role Overview
This opportunity is designed for early-career engineering graduates who want to build a field-based career in oil and gas operations. The position places you at the center of on-site activity, where you will help connect advanced technology with practical challenges at rig locations.
The role is highly hands-on and can involve working at remote sites. From the beginning, you will be trusted with meaningful responsibility, including equipment assembly, data analysis, troubleshooting, and direct support during field operations.
Development Program
You will enter a 4-year Field Engineer Technical Development Program that combines structured learning with practical exposure.
- Year 1: You will train under supervision and take part in hands-on learning at one of the company’s global centers. Travel may be required to support real-world exposure.
- Year 2: You will begin handling greater responsibility at the wellsite while continuing classroom and practical training to strengthen your technical abilities.
- Years 3 and 4: You will broaden your technical knowledge, may start leading wellsite teams, and often act as the primary point of contact for clients.
Key Duties
- Set up, deploy, and run specialized downhole tools to achieve specific wellsite goals.
- Use simulation tools to develop and improve solutions based on customer requirements.
- Review operating data, identify trends, and suggest practical improvements.
- Coordinate equipment movement and make sure installation and operation at the rig site run smoothly.
- Prepare detailed post-job reports and communicate findings to clients and internal teams.
- Promote ongoing improvement with a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.
- Provide direct engineering support during operations and resolve issues independently when needed.
Working Conditions
This position is demanding both physically and mentally. You should be prepared for 12-hour shifts, either during the day or at night, and for work in difficult weather conditions. The job may require long periods away from home, including weekends and holidays.
Product Lines
You may join a specialized product line such as completions, drilling services, wireline services, artificial lift, well services, managed pressure drilling, and other related areas.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Accelerated career growth through a structured development path and mentoring.
- Exposure to advanced technology in live field environments.
- Opportunities to travel, learn, and develop within a global energy services business.
- Potential career pathways into operations, product management, sales, and additional functions.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has recently completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering and is ready to start a career in a field-facing technical role. You should be comfortable working in dynamic onshore and offshore environments, enjoy practical problem-solving, and be eager to learn.
Additional Expectations
The role calls for strong communication, sound judgment, and the ability to think critically under pressure. Since the work environment can change quickly, the ability to adapt and act decisively is important.
