Job overview
This role is for an Executive in Manufacturing, based in Ambasamudram, with a focus on shift-level lab and dyeing operations. The position is responsible for keeping production, quality, safety, and resource-use targets on track while ensuring that shop-floor procedures are followed consistently.
Role purpose
The core objective of the job is to run laboratory and dye-house activities efficiently so that key performance measures such as right-first-time output, colour quality, lead times, attempts per match, and litres per pound per metric ton of dyed material are steadily achieved and improved. The role also covers coordination of lab work such as LRM/DTM activities, colour matching, sample preparation, machine handling, and shift handovers, along with the effective use of manpower, equipment, and energy.
Key responsibilities
- Track safety performance using leading and lagging indicators and review TaRA, MOC, MSA, and equipment checklists.
- Train employees on SOPs and monitor training hours per employee per year.
- Review absenteeism, attrition, and 6S performance for the assigned zone.
- Monitor sustainability indicators such as water usage per kilogram, energy consumption per kilogram, and waste percentage.
- Manage customer complaint metrics per 100 order lines, TUC kilograms, and fail-store stock movement.
- Ensure lab service levels are met within 24-hour and 48-hour targets, including dyeing lead time within 24 hours.
- Follow and improve performance measures such as attempts per match, RFT%, CQ%, operative hours per dye lot, operative hours per 100 kg, LpMpD, efficiency, utilization, red tail analysis, and WFT analysis.
- Support and improve redyeing success rate and DTM development success rate.
- Deliver productivity improvement work, handle LSS projects, and develop Kaizens and OPLs.
- Maintain compliance with SOPs across all shop-floor activities during the shift and handover periods.
Requirements
- Engineering degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant science field such as textile technology, chemistry, textile processing, textile chemistry, or manmade fibre technology.
- Two to three years of relevant experience.
- Practical knowledge of dye-house systems and their efficient use, including colour database management, recipe management, Dye sect, Sedo master, Technorama, LA and Lawer dispensing systems, or similar textile operating systems.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Working knowledge of SAP and related transactions.
- Understanding of health and safety standards and legal requirements.
- Ability to work in Tamil and English.
- Awareness of ISO quality, health & safety, and environmental management systems; knowledge of GRS/GOTS is an advantage.
- Lean Six Sigma yellow belt or equivalent awareness is an added benefit.
- Knowledge of chemical safety, MSDS, ZDHC, Chemcheck, Oeko-Tex, and related compliance systems is desirable.
