Role overview
This is a strategic employee communications position focused on connecting business priorities with clear, engaging internal messaging that helps colleagues stay informed, inspired, and aligned across the organisation.
Working within Group Communications, you will shape internal campaigns, produce compelling content, and make sure channels and messages support the company’s goals, brand direction, and corporate strategy.
What you will do
- Serve as the main employee communications partner for the Group, supporting strategic priorities and helping colleagues stay safe, engaged, and connected as One Biffa.
- Plan and deliver joined-up internal communications campaigns that strengthen engagement, understanding, and business results.
- Work with stakeholders across the organisation to develop clear communications that support change, safety, culture, and the employee experience.
- Own and improve internal communication channels so content reaches the right people through the most effective routes.
- Write high-quality content, leadership updates, and campaign assets that translate business priorities into engaging messages.
- Partner with Brand, Strategic Communications, Public Affairs, and Digital teams to deliver coordinated, audience-focused communications.
- Make sure all communications align with the brand, tone of voice, and broader corporate affairs approach.
- Use data, employee feedback, and performance measures to assess impact, spot risks, and keep improving communication effectiveness.
Requirements
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience in employee or internal communications, including campaigns, channel management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Good knowledge of internal communications platforms, content management systems, and campaign planning.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- A data-led mindset, using insight and metrics to evaluate performance and improve outcomes.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and functions.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage several priorities in a busy environment.
- Adaptability and a willingness to travel when business needs require it.
Additional information
This is a 7-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The role is remote, although travel may be required according to business needs.
