Director of Engineering

About the role

LOBA GROUP is looking for a senior Technical Engineering Director to take charge of a Data Centre business unit. The position sits within a leading EPC contractor known for delivering sophisticated, hyper-scale data centre developments from early concept through to final handover. This is a high-authority engineering leadership role for someone with at least 20 years of experience delivering turnkey, mission-critical infrastructure projects end to end.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the top engineering decision-maker, ensuring every design is resilient, scalable, and aligned with Uptime Tier requirements.
• Lead the entire project journey, covering FEED, detailed MEP and CSA design, procurement assistance, construction, and Integrated Systems Testing through to completion.
• Promote value engineering by advancing modular methods, reducing cost, and shortening schedules while preserving quality standards.
• Guide and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, while serving as the main technical point of contact for major clients and key vendors.
• Direct constructability reviews, HAZOP workshops, and technical risk evaluations to identify and resolve delivery risks early.

Required experience and qualifications

This position has a strict requirement of a minimum of 20 years’ experience delivering greenfield data centre projects from initial concept through client handover in an EPC setting.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering is required; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
• Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer status is expected.
• Uptime Institute ATD or ATS certification is highly preferred.
• Strong technical command of HV/MV systems, UPS and DRUPS, advanced cooling solutions such as chilled water and direct-to-chip, and BMS/EPMS systems is essential.
• Solid EPC knowledge, including turnkey contracting, CAPEX drivers, and management of large vendor ecosystems, is necessary.

Additional information

This role is based in Doha, Qatar and is offered as a full-time, onsite position. The work involves ownership of complex data centre delivery programs, close coordination with engineering, procurement, construction, and systems testing activities, and leadership of high-performing technical teams.
