About the organisation

Wisr is an ASX-listed fintech with a purpose-led mission: helping people move closer to financial wellbeing and creating a meaningful impact in Australia. The company builds financial products and experiences designed to improve customers’ financial health and everyday lives. Its offering includes fairer, smarter loans and the Wisr App, which won WeMoney’s 2024 and 2025 award for Best Mobile Experience. The app supports loan self-service and provides free wellness features such as credit scores, round-up tools, money tips, and more.

Wisr describes itself as a people-first business that values flexibility. The team works in a hybrid setup and is in the office three days each week.

About the role

This position supports the ongoing evolution and modernisation of Wisr’s data platform as the business continues to grow. As part of the Data Squad, you will contribute strong capabilities in data analysis, validation, reconciliation, and quality, along with practical experience building data pipelines for platform implementation and migration work in a Medallion architecture.

You will help protect the quality and integrity of data models and pipelines, playing an important part in developing a reliable, enterprise-wide data platform. The role involves close collaboration with data engineers, Credit Risk, Product Managers, Developers, and teams across Operations and Marketing to ensure smooth data integration, processing, and analytics.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to capture data needs and turn them into clear, testable acceptance criteria and quality checks.
  • Design and develop scalable pipelines and data models that support data quality, reconciliation, and dependable insights.
  • Maintain and improve the data stack with a strong emphasis on quality and testing practices, using tools such as dbt, SQL, Python, orchestration, reconciliation, validation, and observability.
  • Safeguard data accuracy, integrity, and reliability, particularly during migration and implementation work in a Medallion architecture.
  • Create and keep up-to-date documentation, schema controls, and lineage records to improve traceability and transparency.
  • Build a strong understanding of data workflows and continuously improve them through best-practice implementation.
  • Monitor data failures and issues, investigate root causes, recommend improvements, and apply fixes.

About you

You bring hands-on experience with modern data architectures, especially in platform implementation and migration initiatives. You are skilled in data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, and quality testing, and have worked alongside data engineers to validate pipelines, verify transformations, and confirm data integrity before and after cutover.

You are comfortable being the quality checkpoint between business expectations, engineering delivery, and business outcomes, making sure the requested work, the delivered solution, and the data consumed all align.

You should be confident using SQL and Python for analysis, validation scripts, and automated reconciliation. Experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake and transformation tools such as dbt is highly valued, particularly for dbt tests, schema validation, and quality checks. Familiarity with visualisation tools like Tableau or Power BI is an advantage when sharing findings with stakeholders.

Additional requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in data platform implementation, migration, or modernisation projects.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical field.
  • Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to work independently, collaborate across functions, and adapt in dynamic environments.
  • Advanced SQL ability, including complex querying, reconciliation logic, row counts, sum checks, and profiling.
  • Working knowledge of Python for validation scripts, automated reconciliation, and profiling.
  • Practical experience with dbt, including dbt tests, schema tests, and custom quality checks.
  • Experience validating data during platform migrations, including source-to-target reconciliation, regression testing, and cutover validation.
  • Exposure to major cloud data warehouse or lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery.
  • Good understanding of ELT/ETL concepts and medallion or layered data architectures.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both engineers and business stakeholders.

Perks and benefits

  • Flexible, hybrid working arrangement.
  • A yearly $500 wellbeing allowance.
  • An extra annual leave day each financial year through A Day on Wisr.
  • Access to discounted gym memberships and wellbeing-related offers through WHEREFIT.
  • Generous paid parental leave.
  • Unlimited access to Udemy for ongoing learning.
  • Regular team social activities and offsite gatherings.
  • Employee Assistance Program support through Uprise, including up to 6 coaching sessions each year.
