Team Overview

The Data Analytics function plays a key role in improving products, supporting customers and driving business growth. Analysts work across product, commercial and industry-focused teams, partnering with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Commercial stakeholders, Embedded Data Scientists and the wider Data organisation to support sound, evidence-based decisions.

This opening sits in the Travel & Disruption team, where the analyst will use data to better understand how customers interact with travel features throughout their journey. The insight produced will help shape services and products that make rail travel simpler, more reliable and more rewarding, including during disruption.

What You Will Do

  • Study customer behaviour across Trainline’s travel products and services.
  • Turn detailed analysis into clear insight and practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create polished analytical outputs such as dashboards, reports and presentations for senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Partner with Data Scientists to define analytical approaches, interpret results and draw conclusions from large, complex datasets.
  • Work with Data, Product and Design teams so that insight shapes decisions from early discovery through delivery.
  • Help define the success measures used in the Travel area.
  • Contribute to a broader data organisation spanning Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence and Data Product Management.

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands-on experience using analytics to influence business decisions, solve commercial problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong SQL capability and confidence working with large datasets to deliver accurate, dependable and well-structured analysis.
  • Ability to organise analytical work logically, deal with ambiguity and convert complex findings into practical next steps.
  • Experience presenting insights to a range of audiences, including senior leaders and both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong data visualisation ability, ideally with tools such as Tableau, Power BI or similar platforms.
  • A strong sense of storytelling, with the ability to produce refined outputs that are easy to interpret and act on.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple analysis streams while managing competing priorities.
  • Helpful bonus experience includes DBT or modern data transformation workflows, plus exposure to experiments, pilots or trials.

Benefits and Perks

  • Private healthcare and dental cover.
  • Flexible working from abroad policy with 28 days allowed.
  • 2-for-1 share purchase plan.
  • EV scheme designed to help reduce carbon emissions.
  • Additional festive time off.
  • Strong family-friendly benefits.
  • Clear career progression paths.
  • Transparent pay bands.
  • Personal learning budget.
  • Regular learning days.

Working Model

This role follows a hybrid setup. Trainliners are expected to spend at least 60% of their time in the office across each 12-week period.

  • Own It: putting customers, partners and journeys first.
  • Travel Together: working as one team.
  • Do Good: creating positive impact.
