Company Overview

Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site position in Lagos for a Customs Advisor. The role centers on guiding the business on customs rules, tariffs, and import/export compliance connected to group operations and supply chain activities. The advisor will help keep shipments and documentation aligned with applicable regulations while supporting efficient cross-border movement of goods.
Key Duties
- Provide guidance on customs laws, tariff structures, and import/export compliance requirements that affect the group’s activities.
- Review and confirm the accuracy of documents used for importing and exporting goods.
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure transactions meet regulatory standards.
- Track changes in customs and trade regulations and assess how they may impact operations.
- Coordinate with customs officers, logistics partners, and internal teams to handle issues and reduce clearance delays.
- Help limit unnecessary duty and tax exposure through compliant and efficient processes.
- Prepare operational and compliance reports for internal use.
- Support internal audits and contribute recommendations for process enhancement and stronger compliance.
Qualifications
- Strong demand planning and analytical capability to interpret data, anticipate needs, and support decisions.
- Consulting and supply chain management experience to advise stakeholders and oversee logistics workflows.
- Procurement knowledge to align sourcing activities with customs and trade requirements.
- Solid understanding of customs procedures, import/export processes, and trade compliance, ideally in Nigeria and nearby markets.
- Prior exposure to working with customs authorities, freight forwarders, or logistics service providers in a corporate or advisory setting.
- High attention to detail, good organization, and the ability to manage several transactions and deadlines at once.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to explain regulatory matters to non-experts.
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Economics, or a similar discipline; relevant customs or trade compliance certifications are a plus.
