Role overview
We are seeking a flexible Customer Service Representative to support a public sector team in central Whanganui on a temporary basis through June 2027. This is a full-time role, scheduled Monday to Friday during standard business hours. In this position, you will be the initial contact for customers and whānau, offering clear guidance and support through phone and digital channels.
What you'll be doing
- Resolve customer and whānau queries on the first interaction wherever possible.
- Handle incoming and outgoing calls with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Keep records up to date and manage database entries efficiently.
- Review and apply relevant policies and regulations when responding to enquiries.
- Work closely with colleagues to deliver a prompt and reliable service.
Skills and experience
- Background in a customer service, contact centre, or similar client-facing role.
- Strong speaking, listening, and written communication skills.
- Comfortable using computers and able to pick up new systems quickly.
- Able to stay calm, organized, and effective in pressured situations.
