Custodian

Role overview

This full-time custodial position is based in Garden Grove, CA and reports to the Department Supervisor. The role is on the first shift and is centered on keeping a manufacturing facility clean, safe, and orderly while supporting day-to-day operations.

Primary duties

• Maintain clean floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
• Sanitize and clean equipment and shared areas such as machines, mixers, table racks, conveyors, dishes, and refrigerators.
• Dust office furnishings and wipe down desks.
• Clean restrooms and break areas thoroughly.
• Replenish bathroom and breakroom supplies as needed.
• Remove trash and recycling from all designated containers.
• Strip, buff, and seal floors, and shampoo carpets when required.
• Keep soap and paper towel dispensers stocked.
• Support general cleanup by removing garbage and debris across departments, including weekly paint-area cleanup.
• Collect litter from parking areas and the spaces around the buildings.
• Use required personal protective equipment, including protection against hazards such as hexavalent chromium.
• Carry out other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and competencies

The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of responsibility and dependability, along with the ability to work accurately and stay organized under pressure. Good oral communication, sound judgment, honesty, integrity, initiative, and a willingness to learn are important. The job also calls for accountability, reliability, goal focus, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Education and experience

A high school diploma or GED is required. Prior experience in custodial or janitorial work is preferred.

Physical requirements

This is a physically demanding role. Candidates must be able to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull 50 to 75 lbs. The work also requires average vision, touch, and the ability to wear PPE throughout the shift.

Work setting and compliance

Most of the work takes place in a manufacturing environment. This role is subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and employment is contingent on meeting ITAR eligibility requirements.

Compensation and benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $16.90 to $21.00. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; employer-paid basic life insurance; supplemental life insurance; a 401(k) with employer match; generous paid time off; 8 holidays plus 1 floater holiday; and on-the-job training.
