Role overview
Akkodis is hiring a Communications Coordinator for a 12-month contract supporting a client in New York. The role is based in Hudson Yards with a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite. There is potential for extension beyond the initial contract term.
Compensation
The pay range for this assignment is $30 to $32 per hour on a W-2 basis. Final compensation may vary depending on experience, education, location, and other relevant factors.
Team and work environment
This position sits within HBO General Inc., under the Media Relations / Corporate Affairs - Regions group. The work may require overtime, periodic weekend and on-call availability, and weekday evening event support, including red carpet premiere events.
What the role supports
The coordinator will assist publicity operations by managing show assets, preparing press materials, handling talent travel and services, monitoring budgets and invoices, and keeping calendars and press lists current. The role also helps plan and execute press events, prepare coverage reports, and support daily departmental coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain show-related assets such as photos, clips, loglines, biographies, and headshots.
- Write and prepare press communications, including releases and media alerts.
- Arrange travel and itineraries for talent.
- Coordinate glam and styling services for talent.
- Monitor invoices and track show budgets.
- Support planning, staffing, logistics, and media/talent coordination for press events such as Upfront, Comic Con, TCA, junkets, photo shoots, press trips, festivals, premiere carpets, and awards carpets.
- Take part in brainstorming sessions and publicity team meetings.
- Keep team and department calendars updated with ongoing publicity activity.
- Prepare and organize press mailings.
- Maintain press contact databases and editorial calendars.
- Compile coverage reports for show campaigns.
Required experience and skills
The hiring team is looking for someone who can juggle several priorities in a fast-moving, deadline-oriented setting. Prior experience in entertainment publicity is important, along with familiarity with entertainment press, industry trends, and social media. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, including comfort interacting with high-profile individuals such as actors, producers, and press professionals.
Additional requirements
The candidate should be highly organized, detail-focused, and able to work with discretion when handling confidential information. Availability for nights and weekends is required when events demand it. Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.
Education
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification is preferred. A GPA above 3.0 from an accredited university is listed as a preferred qualification.
Interview process
The selection process is expected to include an initial interview with the hiring manager, followed by a second round with the director, and possibly a third round with the VP.
