Role Overview
The Commis I position is ideal for someone who wants to develop their culinary career in a high-standard hotel kitchen. The role focuses on preparing and plating quality dishes, supporting the kitchen team, and helping maintain a smooth, efficient service that meets guest expectations and department goals.
Key Duties
- Prepare, cook, and plate dishes to the hotel’s standards for recipes, portion sizes, and presentation.
- Support the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie in the day-to-day work of the assigned kitchen section.
- Help maintain consistent quality across all food service formats, including à la carte, buffet, banquets, and special functions.
- Carry out mise en place thoroughly so service runs efficiently and without delays.
- Keep work areas, tools, and kitchen spaces clean, orderly, and sanitary in line with HACCP and hotel procedures.
- Observe all food hygiene, safety, and health-and-safety rules at all times.
- Receive, store, track, and rotate ingredients using FIFO methods to preserve freshness and reduce wastage.
- Assist with stock checks, inventory control, and food ordering when needed.
- Work closely with the wider culinary team to support smooth operations and strong guest satisfaction.
- Escalate equipment breakdowns, maintenance concerns, or food quality issues to the Chef de Partie without delay.
- Stay open to learning new methods and keep building culinary knowledge and technical skills.

About the Property
Alwadi Hotel Doha is the first MGallery boutique hotel in Msheireb Downtown Doha, a major retail, commercial, and residential development in Qatar’s capital. The property includes 213 luxurious rooms and suites, a ballroom, five meeting rooms, several dining outlets, and a spa and swimming pool. It is suited to both business and leisure travelers and is approximately 15 minutes from Hamad International Airport and 10 minutes from West Bay.
