Collections Operator

About the role

Jacobs is looking for a Collections Operator to support municipal operations and maintenance work in The Villages, Florida. In this role, you will help keep collection system services running smoothly so communities can rely on safe, efficient service delivery.

You will be part of a team that handles a range of field tasks on an assigned shift, with a strong focus on preventive maintenance, reliable operations, and safe work practices. The position involves hands-on work in municipal facilities and collection systems, where attention to detail and quick response to maintenance needs are important.

What you'll do

• Operate and maintain collection system equipment such as backhoes, Aqua Tech units, and dump trucks.
• Use tools and equipment involved in trench work, sewer line cleaning, and clearing blocked lines.
• Install new lines and carry out manhole cover adjustments and frame replacements.
• Inspect collection system components and help repair and maintain proper flow conditions.
• Patch streets and sidewalks affected by work activities.
• Erect and repair fences as needed.
• Complete work orders and field complaint reports accurately.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned to support safe and effective operations.

What you need

• A valid driver’s license.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of collection systems, along with the tools, materials, and equipment used to maintain and repair them.

Nice to have

• Completed coursework related to collection systems.
• Understanding of safe work practices.

Benefits and compensation

The annual base salary range for this role is $41,200 to $58,850. Pay is handled on an hourly basis according to hours worked, with final compensation influenced by location, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
