Role overview
MatchBox Consulting Group is hiring a Business Analyst for a six-month contract with one of its Vancouver-based clients. The role focuses on business analysis for brand technology work, with a strong emphasis on discovery, documentation, stakeholder coordination, and supporting delivery across cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead discovery activities for brand technology initiatives, including capability mapping, current-state reviews, and the identification of future platform opportunities using solid business analysis methods.
- Build and keep detailed records for multiple projects and systems.
- Apply human-centered design thinking and journey mapping to better understand guest and end-user needs, including those of internal creative, brand, and content teams.
- Work with stakeholders and act as a bridge between business partners and development squads.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Convert business needs into clear, detailed, and actionable specifications, while highlighting dependencies where applicable.
- Collaborate effectively across technology and business teams by developing strong working relationships.
- Assess brand technology capabilities and platforms, compare them with leading industry solutions, and identify options for improvement, replacement, or retirement.
- Partner with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to evaluate platform gaps, shape future capabilities, and inform roadmap decisions.
- Create clear visual materials that explain complex ideas and models to different audiences, including leadership.
- Document user stories, process flows, system and integration diagrams, and acceptance criteria for business process review, architecture, web development, QA, and change management.
- Support backlog planning, grooming, and prioritization so delivery stays aligned with business goals.
- Organize and facilitate user acceptance testing with business users.
- Help test and validate system changes to confirm business requirements are met and intended outcomes are achieved.
- Identify current and future business processes, along with process changes and improvements that support change management.
- Maintain process and system documentation as business needs and systems change.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst on Agile projects in e-commerce, retail, or omni-channel environments.
- Comfort working in Agile, iterative delivery settings and adapting quickly as priorities and information change.
- Working knowledge of business analysis tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Miro.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain and document business concepts, processes, systems, and requirements for all levels of the organization.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple competing demands.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a detail-oriented and inquisitive mindset.
- Independent working style with a proactive, action-oriented approach and a commitment to finding the right solution.
- Experience with DAM, PIM, CMS, or marketing technology platforms such as Aprimo, Akeneo, Bynder, or Adobe Experience Manager is a strong advantage.
- Experience evaluating and implementing marketing AI tools and capabilities is also beneficial.
- Background working with a wide range of systems and integrations would be an asset.

This is a six-month contract position based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The role is onsite.
