Role overview
United International Group is hiring an Automation Technician for its engineering team in Jeddah. In this role, you will help keep automated material handling equipment and control systems running efficiently, with a focus on uptime, reliability, troubleshooting, and ongoing performance improvement.
What you will do
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance as well as corrective repairs on automation systems and conveyor equipment.
- Identify and fix issues in PLC-based automation setups.
- Investigate problems in SCADA, HMI, VFD, and electrical control systems.
- Track equipment performance and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning, and testing of newly deployed automation equipment.
- Review electrical schematics, control diagrams, and technical manuals to support maintenance and repair work.
- Keep clear and accurate maintenance logs and reports.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and IT teams to maintain dependable system performance.
Requirements
- A diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation, controls, or material handling systems.
- Practical experience with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and VFDs.
- Background working with conveyor and sortation systems.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability.
- Comfort reading both electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Good spoken and written English communication skills.
Preferred profile
- Experience in logistics, warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial automation settings.
- Exposure to control system programming and industrial networking.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, SolidWorks, or comparable design tools.
- Awareness of safety requirements and effective maintenance practices.
