Associate General Manager - Project Coordination

Role overview

This position is responsible for coordinating with vendors across thermal power project execution, ensuring that materials, equipment, and services are delivered on time and in line with project needs. The role acts as a key link between the project team and external suppliers to help keep work moving smoothly.

What you will do

• Build and maintain productive relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors while securing competitive pricing, suitable quality, and dependable delivery timelines in line with ethical standards.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to interpret project needs and convert them into practical vendor engagement plans.
• Handle the complete vendor lifecycle, including identification, assessment, onboarding, and ongoing performance tracking, while ensuring alignment with company policies and contract commitments.
• Manage vendor agreements, revisions, and service level terms, keeping documentation current and consistent with project schedules.
• Track vendor output using KPIs and carry out regular performance reviews to identify gaps and resolve concerns early.
• Support clear communication between vendors and internal teams to reduce risks, settle disputes, and speed up issue closure so that project timelines are protected.
• Ensure the timely sourcing of materials and equipment by monitoring lead times and logistics requirements.
• Coordinate with quality assurance teams to verify that vendor deliverables satisfy required standards and regulatory norms.
• Review vendor performance data and suggest improvements that strengthen supply chain effectiveness.
• Promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, and governance requirements across vendor operations.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholders covering vendor progress, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Align vendor coordination practices with sustainability objectives and CSR commitments.
• Guide and support junior team members while encouraging collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil, or a similar field from a recognized university is required. A master’s degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Project Management will be considered an advantage.

This role is based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, and is a full-time onsite position.
