Role Overview
Readymix Qatar is seeking an experienced Welder Fabricator who can handle fabrication tasks, understand technical drawings, and carry out advanced welding work to a high standard. The right person should be able to work on their own, plan welding tasks effectively, and consistently follow safe working practices while delivering strong workmanship.
Core Responsibilities
- Examine engineering drawings, fabrication plans, and welding symbols, then translate them into accurate work on the shop floor.
- Work out the correct welding method independently, including joint preparation, root gap, root face, and the sequence for multi-pass welds.
- Carry out quality MMA/SMAW and MIG/MAG/GMAW welding across different metals and in multiple welding positions.
- Use fabrication tools and machines such as plasma cutters, oxy-acetylene torches, drill presses, grinders, and workshop saws.
- Build, fit, and assemble metal parts and structures according to engineering requirements.
- Choose suitable welding consumables based on the base material and the nature of the job.
- Prepare, inspect, adjust, and maintain welding machines along with hand tools to ensure reliable operation.
- Follow all HSE rules, including PPE use, Permit to Work procedures, risk assessments, and safe handling of materials.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hands-on background as a Welder Fabricator in manufacturing or a heavy industrial setting.
- Strong working knowledge of MMA and MIG/MAG welding; TIG experience will be considered an added advantage.
- Ability to understand technical drawings and welding symbols accurately.
- Practical exposure to fabrication tools and systems, including plasma cutting and oxy-acetylene equipment.
- Good understanding of metallurgy, welding methods, and fabrication standards.
- Capable of working without close supervision and solving problems on the job.
