About the Company
Notion is a shared AI workspace designed to bring teams and AI agents into one place so knowledge, projects, meetings, and tools live together. The product helps people work with less friction and greater clarity, and it is used by millions of individuals, small teams, and large organizations.
Employees are expected to be early users of the product and to help shape the future of work with care for craft, durability, and human-centered design. The company is focused not just on shipping features, but on setting a standard for how people collaborate in the AI era, from managing organizational knowledge to automating repetitive work.
About the Role
This opening is for a new graduate AI engineer who will help define and advance the company’s AI direction. The work centers on building intelligent, AI-powered experiences using technologies such as large language models, embeddings, and related systems that improve the product’s usefulness and capability.
The position may sit on one of several AI-oriented teams depending on business needs and team fit. Possible areas include product engineering for model-driven features, systems work focused on model performance and infrastructure, or evaluation work centered on measuring and improving quality.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with the team to prototype and launch an AI-enhanced product improvement.
- Take ownership of a well-scoped production project, such as adding a new model or technique to an existing workflow, introducing monitoring and safety checks, or improving speed, cost, or reliability.
- Help build and refine evaluation loops by creating or extending test sets, running experiments, reviewing outcomes, and turning insights into product or system improvements.
- Depending on the team, contribute to end-to-end AI product features, model integration and infrastructure, or evaluation frameworks and human-in-the-loop testing.
Qualifications
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- You must be able to begin full-time work before July 27, 2026.
- You have prior internship experience.
- You are building proficiency in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, React, Python, or similar.
Skills and Experience Needed
- You enjoy building quickly and iterating on prototypes, and you have begun exploring AI or machine learning through coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons.
- You understand how product layers connect, including user interfaces, APIs, and data flows.
- You have some familiarity with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- You can take an idea from prototype to a working feature with support and guidance.
- You are methodical, curious, and comfortable breaking ambiguous problems into smaller pieces.
- You work well with feedback, ask thoughtful questions, and think about user and business impact when making decisions.
- You communicate clearly in writing and meetings, and you are comfortable sharing early work and learning in public.
- You enjoy collaborating with engineers and cross-functional partners across product, design, and data.
- You prioritize outcomes and user needs, especially when your work may reach a very large audience.
- Bonus familiarity with parts of the stack such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, or Postgres is welcomed.
Compensation and Benefits
The role includes competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. For candidates based in San Francisco and New York, the estimated base salary range is $126,000 to $146,000. Final compensation depends on factors such as location, scope of the role, and the candidate’s experience and expertise.
Additional Information
You do not need deep AI specialization for every position, but the team expects curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and comfort using AI as a practical collaborator. For roles where AI fluency is essential, that requirement will be stated directly in the qualifications.
