Software Engineer, New Grad

About the role

Deliveroo is hiring a New Grad Software Engineer for its London team. This position is focused on building and improving the technology behind a global on-demand delivery marketplace that serves millions of customers, riders, and partners. The work spans real-time logistics, reliable infrastructure, and marketplace optimisation at scale.

You will contribute to production systems from the London headquarters and help shape the services that support Deliveroo’s growth. The role sits within a high-impact engineering environment where you will learn from experienced engineers while working on meaningful, real-world problems.

What you will do

• Write and deliver high-quality code while improving service design and code structure across systems built with languages such as Go, Ruby, Python, or Scala.
• Take responsibility for specific features and workstreams, including design input, technical delivery, and contributing to the team roadmap.
• Support the reliability, maintainability, and operational readiness of production services.
• Work closely with other engineering groups to find opportunities for collaboration and solve complex marketplace challenges.
• Learn from senior engineers and, over time, help teammates through code reviews and shared technical knowledge.

What you need

• A degree in Computer Science or a similar technical discipline, completed within the last year.
• A strong habit of writing clear, maintainable, well-structured, and well-tested software.
• Experience building web-based applications in any programming language, along with an interest in learning Deliveroo’s stack, which includes Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, and Rust.
• Working familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• The ability to simplify complex technical or logistics problems into practical software solutions.
• Authorisation to work in the United Kingdom.

Additional information

This position is based at Deliveroo’s London headquarters in Cannon Bridge House and requires on-site attendance at least three days per week.

The hiring process is designed to be fair and typically includes three to four stages.

Deliveroo is now part of DoorDash, and you may work with teams, systems, and leaders across DoorDash and Wolt depending on the role.
