About the company
Sainsbury’s is one of the UK’s largest supermarket groups and operates one of the country’s biggest retail websites. Marketing at the business is delivered at significant scale, spanning brand planning, brand communications, creative, digital marketing, CRM and loyalty, Nectar 360, and insights. The company works with major brand partners and leading agencies, and uses customer data and insight to better understand shopping behaviour and create stronger connections.
It offers a fast-moving environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and collaborate across different teams. The culture places value on work-life balance, development, and giving people room to bring new ideas.
Why this role stands out
As a Social Media Associate, you will join a creative and collaborative team focused on building brand love and engaging customers through organic social media. You will work closely with the Social Media Lead to plan and deliver content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Meta, using strong content instincts and platform knowledge to support the wider social strategy.
The role gives you access to modern tools, agency support, and cross-functional collaboration, along with the chance to contribute directly to the brand’s social presence in a busy, customer-focused environment.
What you will do
You will support the Social Media Lead in managing organic social channels and helping bring the social media strategy to life. The role includes developing campaign-led, always-on, and recipe content that aligns with the social plan and customer needs.
You will create video-led social content and write engaging captions for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Meta. You will also own the social media calendar, help coordinate delivery of the organic strategy, and work with the in-house agency, Zest, to produce content.
In addition, you will attend shoots, maintain the brand’s presence across channels, follow social governance standards, and track, measure, and report on performance. Strong use of social media tools and platform knowledge will be important to success in the role.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is creative, commercially aware, and comfortable working with food content. You should have a strong understanding of social media, especially Instagram, Meta, and TikTok, along with an interest in trends and ideas that drive engagement.
You will need to be organised, able to manage several priorities at once, and confident working under pressure in a fast-paced setting. The role also calls for independent problem-solving, solid project management, and effective collaboration with different teams.
You should be comfortable creating copy and content, shooting food or recipe-based material, and using editing software such as Photoshop, Canva, and CapCut.
Essential experience
- Hands-on experience creating and delivering social content for Instagram, TikTok, and Meta.
- Experience producing food or recipe-focused content.
- Practical use of editing tools such as Photoshop, Canva, and CapCut.
- Experience working with social media calendars and campaign plans.
Benefits

Additional benefits include annual holiday, the option to buy up to one extra week of leave, season ticket loans, a cycle-to-work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance access before payday, retail discounts from hundreds of brands, and an employee assistance programme.
The company also provides enhanced family leave, including up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave.
