직무 설명

Role overview

Shaftesbury School is seeking a capable Site Technician to help deliver estates and facilities support across the site. This is a practical, varied role where you will help keep the school safe, functional and well maintained for staff and students.

Main duties

Your work will cover day-to-day site security, routine maintenance, compliance-related checks, minor repairs and grounds care. You will also support contractors on site and help ensure the premises remain a secure and welcoming environment.

What the role involves

No two days will be identical. The position includes hands-on DIY tasks, safety inspections, upkeep of outdoor areas and general support for the smooth running of the school’s facilities.

Pay and contract

This is a permanent position of 37 hours per week, working 52 weeks per year. The salary is Grade 7, Point 8-14, with an annual range of £26,824 to £29,540, depending on experience. Salary is paid in equal monthly instalments and may be adjusted at the beginning of employment and again if employment ends partway through the school year so that pay matches the work completed during the academic year.

What the school is looking for

The ideal candidate will bring practical maintenance and repair ability, a sensible approach to health and safety, and the confidence to work independently using their own initiative. Reliability, punctuality, clear communication and strong organisational skills are also important.

Additional notes

A full clean driving licence is desirable and may be required for trust-wide support duties.

Candidates are encouraged to speak informally with the Trust Cluster Estates Manager, Glenn Tarrant, before applying. He can be contacted at [email protected].

Safeguarding and recruitment checks

The trust will carry out online searches on shortlisted candidates as part of safer recruitment practice and in line with KCSIE guidance. These checks are designed to assess suitability to work with children and will be handled by someone not involved in the appointment panel. Any relevant concerns identified will be shared only where appropriate.

This post involves regular contact with young people and may include safeguarding-related responsibilities such as first aid support or helping an upset child. The successful applicant must meet the person specification and will need to complete safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and a Children’s Barred List check.

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, including the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

Equality and inclusion

The trust values a diverse workforce and is committed to fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity. Applications are welcomed from all backgrounds and the recruitment process is designed not to disadvantage anyone on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race or nationality, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.

Right to work

This is a UK-based role and proof of the right to work in the UK will be required during the appointment process.
