Role overview
This position is for a Site Operative based in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, working within a varied operational setting. The role supports site waste activities and involves the use of different types of mobile plant, along with general site upkeep such as wheel wash management, haul road maintenance, and water control.

What you will do
You will report to the Site Supervisor and handle day-to-day site operations across several work areas. The role is practical, safety-focused, and involves managing waste handling and site conditions.
- Use and look after mobile plant used for excavation, haulage, compaction, and grading.
- Oversee the tipping area, making sure waste is compacted properly and covered at the end of each day.
- Control and coordinate hauliers on site while protecting their safety and the safety of others.
- Check the landfill for risks, ground instability, and environmental concerns such as gas release or leachate.
- Complete duty-of-care inspections on waste streams and products to confirm they meet acceptance standards.
- Carry out routine machinery checks, small repairs, litter control, general housekeeping, and other operational duties, including managing the wheel wash and handling dewatering equipment.
What the employer is looking for
The preferred candidate will already have experience operating mobile plant, and prior work in landfill or similar waste operations would be an advantage. A mobile plant qualification such as NVQ, EPIC, or CITB would strengthen an application.
Strong awareness of health and safety, along with good attention to detail, is also expected.
