Role overview
Petrofac is seeking a Senior Engineer - Projects (Module FIM - Post order) to join its team in Sharjah, UAE. The company is an international services provider to the energy sector, supporting clients through the design, construction, management, and maintenance of energy infrastructure across multiple commercial models and project stages.
What you will do
- Work as part of an engineering team to coordinate resources so that construction is delivered efficiently and in line with contractual obligations.
- Examine contract documents to judge buildability, spot possible execution challenges, and flag any construction changes or variations that may be needed.
- Contribute to project planning by helping develop a schedule aligned with project needs, including the sequence and duration of activities.
- Prepare a Technical Document Register (TDR) as a level 4 schedule, ensure it contains all construction-critical information, track drawing release dates, and escalate missing or inconsistent data to the Lead Engineer.
- Take corrective action when information is incomplete or when data is missing from clients or vendors.
- Review engineering drawings, documents, and deliverables in your area of responsibility to check constructability and alignment with contract terms.
- Create and release purchase requests for materials and consumables as required.
- Develop project-specific and other procedures to provide full coverage of project activities in accordance with contract requirements.
- Coordinate with other departments and sections to integrate work effectively and reduce the risk of delays.
- Help finalize work that will be outsourced to subcontractors, including bid review and contract terms.
- Track project progress against the plan and client expectations, and implement corrective measures when needed.
- Make sure the resources needed for smooth project execution are available.
- Follow up with clients for approvals and directions, attend client meetings, and coordinate on all project deliverables.
- Lead post-award kick-off discussions with vendors, then expedite, monitor, and review vendor deliverables against contract requirements, the execution schedule, purchase order terms, and conditions.
- Ensure suborders for materials match the supplier’s engineering and manufacturing timelines, and track deliveries closely.
- Address operational issues that may affect deliveries, support delay recovery actions, and work with stakeholders to reduce schedule and cost impacts.
- Maintain regular progress updates for orders.
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with suppliers and conduct objective supplier performance reviews.
- Plan field-expediting visits at supplier shops after consulting the Project Manager, and coordinate inspection plans with suppliers, QA/QC, and inspection teams.
- Review flash reports, follow up on QA/QC approvals, check inspection release notes, issue shipping release notes to suppliers and the logistics team, and support the shipping process.
- Coordinate shipping documentation and work with the shipping team to ensure goods move on time before the consignment is ready.
- Track material movement until the Material Receipt Voucher (MRV) is obtained from the site material controller.
- Investigate excess, shortage, and damage cases for supplies, and work with the supplier and procurement team to resolve discrepancies while maintaining accurate material receipt records.
- Guide suppliers on invoicing requirements, and review, verify, and manage supplier invoices for payment against progress milestones.
