About ALS
ALS is a global science and data-focused organisation working to support a healthier future through testing and insights. Its minerals division is known worldwide for geochemical sample preparation, analytical procedures, and data management, and its European hub laboratory is located in Loughrea, County Galway.
Role Overview
The company is looking for applicants to join the Sample Preparation Department on the day shift, running from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the sample preparation process as materials come into the laboratory.
- Help maintain daily output targets and ensure turnaround times are met.
- Work closely with the supervisor and wider laboratory team to deliver services smoothly to clients.
- Spot and report internal and external issues as they occur.
- Follow approved procedures and schedules to carry out work accurately while protecting analytical quality.
- Observe all safety rules and comply with ALS health and safety policies at all times.
- Carry out other related tasks as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- A well-organised and self-driven approach to work.
- Strong attention to detail and a firm commitment to quality and safety.
- Comfort working independently as well as within a team.
- Ability to manage a busy workload and respond to urgent, time-sensitive matters.
- Intermediate written and spoken English communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain sitting and/or standing for long periods.
- Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
- Must be clean-shaven in order to use protective equipment properly.

Contract Information
The initial contract runs for 12 months and may be extended if the candidate performs successfully in the role.
