Role Summary

The organisation is hiring a relief Domestic Assistant to provide cover during sick leave, maternity leave, annual leave, and similar absences across Catering, Laundry, and Housekeeping. This position needs a flexible, proactive person with a positive approach. Full training will be provided for all department-specific duties.

Catering Duties

• Follow HACCP requirements under the direction of the Head Chef and ensure all work practices remain compliant with food safety rules.
• Serve meals to residents in a courteous and efficient way, and clear up after service.
• Keep food service areas, kitchenettes, and dining spaces spotless throughout the nursing home.
• Clean and operate the dishwasher area efficiently and maintain the surrounding space.
• Log temperatures in food service areas as instructed.
• Check deliveries and record incoming goods to confirm the correct quality and quantity.
• Support the food and beverage needs of the nursing home.
• Provide meal service for residents and other staff as required.
• Clean all equipment to a consistently high standard.
• Reduce waste wherever possible.
• Move between catering tasks as needed to support operational demands.

Laundry Duties

• Wash and iron residents’ clothing each day.
• Sort and label residents’ garments appropriately.
• Ensure linen supplies are available for all departments when requested.
• Keep the laundry room clean and orderly.
• Collect domestic and clinical waste and dispose of it correctly.
• Receive stock and store it safely.
• Support compliance with health and safety regulations across the team.
• Step in to assist with housekeeping duties when needed.
• Complete other reasonable tasks assigned by management.

Housekeeping Duties

• Clean shared areas and residents’ rooms on a daily basis.
• Use and store cleaning tools and chemicals correctly.
• Collect domestic waste and dispose of it in the proper manner.
• Clean spills promptly and use wet floor warning signs where appropriate.
• Collect trays, use the dishwasher, and keep the unit kitchen neat and hygienic.
• Wash crockery, cutlery, and similar items as needed.
• Prepare trays for meals.
• Maintain safe working practices and ensure the environment remains safe at all times.
• Work on a rotational and flexible basis according to the nursing home’s needs.
