Role Summary
This full-time, on-site position in Tuas is for a Quantity Surveyor who will manage the commercial and cost aspects of projects from tender stage through completion. The role involves preparing Bills of Quantities, carrying out quantity take-offs from drawings, supporting tender activities, and maintaining control over budgets, claims, variations, and final accounts.
Key Accountabilities
- Prepare and assess Bills of Quantities and perform quantity take-offs from drawings.
- Assist with tender preparation and tender evaluation activities.
- Handle cost planning, budget tracking, and cost control throughout pre-contract and post-contract phases.
- Monitor and update cost reports regularly.
- Support progress claims, variation claims, and final account preparation.
- Work with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to keep commercial matters aligned.
- Prepare project documentation, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with contractual, safety, and company requirements.
Requirements
- Strong capability in cost management for construction or steel-related works.
- Experience with cost planning and cost reporting for budgeting, forecasting, and financial monitoring.
- Practical experience in preparing and reviewing BOQs and extracting quantities from drawings.
- Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and quantity surveying or construction management tools.
- Ability to interpret construction and fabrication drawings accurately.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving ability with careful attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
- Willingness to work on-site in Tuas and manage deadlines in a fast-paced project setting.
- Experience in steel works, fabrication, or industrial projects will be an advantage.
