Role overview

The Quality Engineer supports the creation, upkeep, and improvement of quality systems so that products, processes, and services consistently meet strong reliability and compliance expectations. In this position, you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service teams to strengthen quality assurance practices, investigate issues, and promote continuous improvement.

This role calls for someone who is highly analytical, careful with details, and ready to take initiative in spotting risks and opportunities for better performance. You will help ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded by acting as a link between multiple internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the organization’s Quality Management System in line with ISO and relevant industry requirements.
  • Create, revise, and control inspection procedures, control plans, and work instructions to support consistent quality outcomes.
  • Monitor and confirm the effectiveness of first article inspections, in-process checks, and final inspections to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Check and approve supplier and manufacturing records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support internal, supplier, and customer audits to meet regulatory, quality, and contractual obligations.
  • Own root cause investigations related to nonconformances, customer issues, and audit observations, and ensure they are closed out properly.
  • Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions to stop quality problems from recurring.
  • Guide problem-solving efforts using methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, 8D, and statistical tools.
  • Gather, interpret, and present quality data such as defect rates, rework, scrap, and supplier performance trends.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on Lean and Six Sigma improvement efforts.
  • Assist with capability studies, measurement system analysis, and other data-based quality evaluations.
  • Recommend changes to designs or processes that improve reliability, manufacturability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and operations teams to assess supplier performance and drive corrective improvements.
  • Support production teams with quality concerns, including training, documentation, and process controls.
  • Develop processes that ensure materials, parts, and assemblies satisfy technical and contractual requirements.
  • Contribute to new product introductions so quality is built into design and production from the start.
  • Represent quality in customer discussions, audits, and resolution of field issues.
  • Communicate quality concerns and resolution progress clearly and professionally.
  • Work with field service and engineering teams to investigate and resolve field performance and warranty issues.

Required background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or another related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing, industrial, or electrical systems setting.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, UL, ASME, and similar quality standards.
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, and statistical process control.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods; certification is preferred.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Good understanding of measurement tools, GD&T, and inspection methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers, customers, and all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and quality-related systems such as QMS or ERP platforms.
  • Strong analytical thinking, organization, and problem-solving capability.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
