Role overview
DXC Technology is hiring an intermediate IT Project Manager for its Wellington-based operations. The role focuses on supporting the delivery of technology initiatives in a government setting, with an emphasis on application projects. You’ll work with business teams, technical specialists, and delivery partners to help take projects from initial planning through implementation and handover.
This position suits someone with solid project delivery experience who can manage priorities, keep stakeholders informed, and help ensure outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and with proper governance.
Eligibility
Applicants must be citizens or hold permanent residency for at least 5 years. The role is based in Wellington, New Zealand.
Key responsibilities
- Support the full lifecycle delivery of IT projects that improve government services.
- Work with business and technical stakeholders to shape scope, requirements, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and assist with change control.
- Help manage budget tracking, resourcing, and coordination with vendors.
- Prepare concise project updates and reports for governance groups and senior leaders.
- Keep project records accurate, complete, and ready for audit or review.
- Contribute ideas that improve delivery practices across the organisation.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience managing IT projects, ideally in an application-focused environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Exposure to IT delivery environments such as applications or digital projects.
- Working knowledge of Waterfall, Agile, and/or hybrid project delivery methods.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, well-organised, and solutions-oriented working style.
- Experience in government or regulated environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with public sector governance, reporting, or assurance processes is an advantage.
- Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, or Scrum are desirable.
