About the organisation

Public Health Scotland began operating on 1 April 2020 as Scotland’s national health board. It employs about 1,200 people and manages an annual budget of around £101 million. The role

The Population Health and Wellbeing Directorate is looking to appoint one full-time Project Manager on a permanent basis. This position sits within the Population Health Harms portfolio in the Smoking, Vaping and Gambling Harm team, and is focused entirely on the gambling harm work programme funded through the gambling levy.

What you will do

You will help shape and deliver a work programme aimed at preventing and reducing gambling harm across multiple directorates within Public Health Scotland, working with a range of specialist teams.

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in project and/or programme management. Experience in the public sector would be an advantage. You should also have strong communication, negotiation and influencing abilities, including a proven track record of working with senior stakeholders and across different sectors. The role requires someone who can work independently and confidently with minimal supervision.

Working pattern and location

This post can be based at either Gyle Square in Edinburgh or Bothwell Street in Glasgow. The organisation operates a hybrid working model, so you will be expected to spend time in the office and also have the option to work from home.

The standard working pattern is Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week. Public Health Scotland is flexible and open to discussing alternative working arrangements. In periods of public health emergency or other urgent business need, you may temporarily be asked to work your normal contracted hours across seven days, including weekends, to support service needs.

It is a condition of employment that you live and remain resident in the UK for this role.
