Project Coordinator - Solar

Role summary

In this position, you will coordinate the technical planning and delivery of residential solar projects from design completion through commissioning and handover. The role acts as a central link between clients, internal departments, and site teams, with responsibility for keeping work aligned to engineering requirements, project schedules, and regulatory obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Organize and manage residential solar PV projects across the full lifecycle, starting at design finalization and continuing through commissioning and handover.
• Check technical drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, and bills of quantities alongside engineering colleagues.
• Carry out site surveys to verify structural suitability, electrical readiness, shading conditions, and any installation limitations.
• Assist with system sizing, equipment selection, and configuration checks to ensure they match customer needs and applicable regulations.
• Plan installation timelines and make sure work follows the approved technical design.
• Track installation quality on site, ensure safe working practices, and confirm compliance with engineering standards.
• Support diagnosis and resolution of technical issues that arise during installation or commissioning.
• Handle inverter setup, grid synchronization activities, and performance verification tests.
• Liaise with authorities and utilities for approvals, inspections, and grid-connection procedures.
• Keep project records accurate, including as-built drawings, commissioning documentation, and compliance files.
• Contribute to operations and maintenance planning, such as performance checks and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Work with procurement to confirm equipment compatibility and timely availability.
• Coordinate with sales and business development teams to confirm technical feasibility before a project is finalized.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 3 to 5+ years of experience in solar PV project coordination, installation, or technical operations, preferably in residential projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and installation methods.
• Ability to understand electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical layouts.
• Working knowledge of grid-connected residential solar requirements and authority compliance processes.
• Familiarity with inverter configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Basic awareness of structural and electrical safety compliance.
• Experience using project tracking tools and documentation systems.
• Good project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
• Strong analytical thinking and practical problem-solving ability.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with different stakeholders.
• High attention to technical detail and quality standards.
• Strong time management and deadline focus.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, procurement, and site teams.
• Exposure to local authority approvals and inspections is preferred.
• Knowledge of solar O&M practices is preferred.
• Familiarity with CRM or project management software is preferred.
• Site supervision or field coordination experience is preferred.
