About the role
The Process Safety Expert will help drive the day-to-day delivery of the process safety programme across the Cork and Arklow manufacturing sites. The position also contributes to the Life Science Process Safety Center of Excellence, which oversees the rollout of company-wide governance initiatives linked to process safety.
What you will do
- Create compliance frameworks and site operating plans that support process safety requirements.
- Keep an up-to-date master register of actions related to process safety.
- Prepare process safety inputs for capital projects in line with the corporate programme, including HAZOP-based process hazard reviews and pre-startup safety reviews.
- Lead or support process hazard analysis activities.
- Arrange or carry out consequence modelling when needed.
- Apply specialist knowledge in one or more areas such as risk assessment, chemical reactivity, fire protection systems, and mechanical integrity.
- Work closely with the Life Science Process Safety Center of Excellence by joining CoE meetings, helping develop standards and tools, delivering and leading training, and driving site-level process safety initiatives.
What you need
- A Level 8 bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Science, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- More than 8 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing setting, especially in the chemical or pharmaceutical sector.
- Hands-on experience implementing process safety programmes, leading HAZOP studies, and carrying out other process hazard analyses.
- Working knowledge of Irish and EU process safety laws and standards, including the Seveso-III Directive, COMAH Regulations, and ATEX Directives.
- Proven ability to lead, organise, influence, and motivate others.
- Strong adaptability and the confidence to respond to shifting priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication, along with strong presentation skills.
