About the Role

As a Platform Engineer in the Sydney team, you will help build and maintain the foundation for a next-generation banking platform. Your work will provide the runtime environment that shields feature teams from the complexity of the underlying infrastructure.

This is a broad platform role that goes well beyond a basic Kubernetes setup. You will work across multiple AWS accounts and a wide range of systems and services, with regular opportunities to explore different parts of the stack.

Platform Scope

  • Networking across ingress, egress, DMZ, clusters, load balancers, cross-account, cross-region, and cross-VPC setups, plus third-party B2B integrations.
  • Security areas including OAuth, mTLS, IAM, security configuration, service mesh, egress controls, and HashiCorp Vault.
  • Data components such as Aurora PostgreSQL, database tuning, Kafka, and caching.
  • Platform infrastructure built on Kubernetes in AWS, managed with Terraform, with a control layer designed for tier-1 resilience and 99.99% availability.
  • Operational tooling and CI/CD using Go and Python, supported by Jenkins, Concourse CI, and validation or linting tools.
  • Feature team services built with Java, Spring Boot, and Quarkus, although your direct involvement with these will be more limited.
