Role overview
Equans is hiring a Multi Site Caretaker to support school sites across Rotherham, with the main base at Wath Academy, S63 7NW. This is a permanent full-time position offering 40 hours per week and a salary of £27,476.80 per year.
Working pattern
The role follows a Monday-to-Friday schedule, with shifts worked within any 8-hour window between 6:00am and 10:00pm. A 1-hour unpaid lunch break is included. There may also be occasional overtime where required to meet contractual service obligations.
What you will be doing
In this position, you will act as a key holder and take responsibility for a broad range of site duties. The job includes general site upkeep, litter collection, scheduled and responsive maintenance tasks, outdoor maintenance and seasonal preparation, porterage, reception support, and acting as an important point of contact between Equans and the school. The role also calls for a strong attention to detail and practical DIY ability.
Site caretaker duties
- Manage day-to-day site operations across multiple school locations.
- Carry out litter picking and keep external areas tidy.
- Support planned and reactive building maintenance.
- Maintain outdoor areas and prepare them for seasonal changes.
- Provide porterage and reception support when needed.
- Serve as a key liaison between the facilities team and the school.
- Hold and manage site keys responsibly.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in a trade or a similar hands-on role.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work on your own initiative.
- Comfortable working independently.
- Health and safety awareness, including manual handling and working at height.
- Understanding of COSHH guidance and colour-coding practices.
