Role overview
The Mechanical Technician will support the reliability and smooth operation of plant assets by carrying out preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on mechanical equipment. The position focuses on improving availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and keeping operations efficient.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled, corrective, and urgent maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment to support plant performance.
- Identify mechanical issues, investigate equipment failures, and complete repairs promptly to reduce downtime.
- Raise and close maintenance work orders through CMMS, while following OEM instructions, maintenance procedures, and quality expectations.
- Work in line with HSE requirements, Permit-to-Work controls, safety procedures, and safe tool/equipment handling practices during all maintenance tasks.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers, Operations personnel, and contractors to plan, perform, and record both routine and emergency maintenance activities accurately.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience in power generation, desalination, utilities, heavy industry, or oil and gas environments.
- Practical experience with rotating and static equipment, including exposure to gas turbine systems and multi-stage desalination plant equipment.
- Strong background in preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance, fault finding, troubleshooting, and CMMS-based work management in accordance with OEM standards.
- Training or certification in First Aid and Emergency Fire Fighting, along with working knowledge of PTW, HSE practices, plant isolation, and safe work methods.
- Good analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, communication skills, and teamwork, with the capability to work independently in multicultural, high-pressure industrial settings.
