Role overview
The Maintenance Technician will look after preventative upkeep across the assigned apartment buildings, with a strong focus on tenant service and building reliability. The role is based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and follows a Monday to Friday schedule.
Compensation and benefits
The position offers an annual salary of $45,000, along with employer-paid health and dental coverage.
Core duties
- Carry out maintenance work in occupied suites, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks, and make sure maintenance logs and timesheets are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Prepare vacant or turnover units for new occupancy by cleaning, repairing, and handling items such as leaking taps, faucet replacements, and door lock changes.
- Keep shared spaces in good order by cleaning stairwells, corridors, and elevators, and checking that lights, emergency signage, and fire extinguishers remain operational.
- Maintain storage areas and boiler rooms, clear snow from walkways, apply salt when needed, and manage garbage removal.
- Complete scheduled monthly inspections and finish assigned painting and repair work within required timelines.
- Use ladders and power tools safely while performing physically demanding work, and apply knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
Qualifications and technical needs
- Post-secondary education relevant to the field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is needed.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working with HVAC equipment, BAS, and FAS in a Class A residential setting is required.
- A valid driver’s licence is expected, and a clean driving record plus automobile insurance may also be necessary.
- Strong computer ability is required, including Word, Excel, email, and web-based tools.
- The job requires physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and to bend, push, pull, and climb stairs repeatedly.
