Key duties

You will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, complete regular inspections, and handle minor repair work. The role also includes liaising with outside contractors when required, looking after tools and equipment, and making sure all work follows safety and compliance requirements.

Qualifications and other requirements

Applicants should be confident in preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing faults, and carrying out repairs independently. Strong communication skills are needed to work respectfully with residents and staff and to coordinate effectively with contractors.

Experience in building or facility maintenance, especially in retirement living or aged care, is considered a strong advantage. A sound understanding of workplace health and safety procedures and the ability to follow safe work practices are required.

Hands-on experience in a similar role, or a trade background such as electrical or plumbing, is desirable. The ability to work with limited supervision, manage several tasks at once, and keep accurate records is also important.

A current national police certificate is required, or the candidate must be willing to undergo a criminal history check.
