Overview

The business is now hiring a Senior Learning & Development Project Officer to help shape, coordinate, and deliver high-quality learning solutions.
This position supports capability development across the workforce by applying modern learning methods, working closely with stakeholders, and driving ongoing improvement. The work takes place in a complex and secure setting, where the successful person will partner with subject matter experts and business teams to build training programs that align with organisational goals and operational needs.
The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract and is based on-site in Canberra or Melbourne.
Responsibilities
- Create and deliver engaging learning experiences for adult learners using current instructional design approaches.
- Organise and run face-to-face, virtual, and e-learning training sessions and programs.
- Prepare training assets such as learner guides, facilitator notes, and supporting documents.
- Oversee learning and development coordination, including scheduling, stakeholder communication, reporting, and quality control.
- Review training outcomes and improve programs through feedback, data analysis, and lessons learned.
- Keep learning records up to date and manage reporting through Learning Management Systems and related tools.
- Work with stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, and service providers to identify training needs and deliver strong learning outcomes.
- Assist with organisational change activities through training support, communications, and user adoption initiatives.
- Contribute to project planning, governance, and reporting when needed.
Requirements
- Proven background in designing, developing, and delivering learning and development programs for adults in complex organisational environments.
- Solid understanding of instructional design, adult learning principles, and evaluation methods.
- Experience building blended learning solutions across classroom, virtual, and online delivery formats.
- Hands-on experience using Learning Management Systems and learning technologies to administer, monitor, and report on training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information clearly to varied audiences.
- Well-developed stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organisational ability with the capacity to juggle priorities and meet deadlines.
- A strong focus on quality, continuous improvement, and evidence-based learning practices.
- Experience in government, Defence, or other highly regulated environments will be an advantage.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance and complete required suitability assessments.
- For this role, a TPSV or Positive Vetting Security Clearance is mandatory.
- A valid Vulnerable People / Working with Children Check and a Police Check are required.

Terms and Conditions
The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract. It is an on-site position based in Canberra or Melbourne. The successful candidate must hold a TPSV or Positive Vetting Security Clearance, and must be able to maintain the required security clearance and complete suitability checks. A valid Vulnerable People / Working with Children Check and a Police Check are also required.
