Role overview
The company is looking for Labourers to support work at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in Red Deer, Alberta. The position involves preparing and tidying construction sites, handling materials and equipment, and supporting demolition, excavation, and compaction tasks. The role reports to the Foreman or Superintendent.
Key duties
- Receive, unload, and transport construction materials to the required work areas.
- Set up and take down concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades as needed on site.
- Place concrete and use vibration equipment where required.
- Support carpenters, cement finishers, and other trades during construction work.
- Grade and level ground to fine specifications with hand tools such as rakes and shovels.
- Help with demolition work using pry bars and similar tools, and sort, clean, and stack reusable materials.
- Operate jackhammers and tampers when instructed.
- Pump out water as required.
- Keep the construction area clean and orderly.
- Organize and maintain storage containers.
- Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.
- Represent Clark Builders in a courteous and professional way.
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
Skills and physical requirements
This role calls for the physical capability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and to carry out repetitive movements, bending, crouching, and kneeling for extended periods. You should also be prepared for long work hours, repetitive tasks, outdoor work in changing weather conditions, and safe operation of the equipment used on the job.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial or industrial construction is an advantage.
- A valid First Aid certificate is considered an asset.
- Valid ESC Fall Protection, CSTS 2020, and WHMIS 2015 certifications are assets.
