Core duties

• Help create a store experience where customers feel welcomed, valued, and encouraged to return.
• Keep the department set to plan, with strong shelf availability, correct rotation, proper inventory levels, and clean, accurate pricing/signage.
• Restock products across the store and support cooler/freezer condition standards and ordering needs.
• Assist customers by locating items and offering suitable product suggestions when needed.
• Work collaboratively with teammates, share job and department information, and help build trust and respect among associates.
• Follow company direction along with applicable local, state, and federal rules.
• Watch inventory conditions closely, flag shortages or differences, and review product quality and freshness before taking action.
• Make sure food is stored at the correct temperature and that required temperature records are maintained.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, productivity, and safety standards at all times.
• Follow USDA, COOL, and Department of Agriculture compliance requirements, including recalls and withdrawals, and keep affected items secured and out of customer reach.
• Identify unsafe conditions, report accidents, safety risks, theft, fraud, robbery, or other illegal activity, and support prompt management response.
• Observe wage-and-hour rules and help maintain a strong safety culture for the store and department.
• Confirm that associates are working safely, have the needed training, and can access and use required PPE.
• Ensure hazard assessments are available for reference and that equipment is kept in safe working order; help escalate or isolate hazards when needed.
• Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States, or able to obtain authorization.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Prior experience of 0 to 3 years is preferred.
• Strong customer service ability is required.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills are required.
• English is required; Spanish is preferred.

Working conditions

• This role involves varied shifts and may require occasional overnight travel.
• Work is primarily in a retail setting with heavy physical demands.
• Employees are expected to stand or walk for long periods and use both hands and feet for repetitive tasks.
• The job may require reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving loads, including lifting up to 50 lbs and pulling up to 250 lbs.
• Work can take place indoors or outdoors and in cold, freezing, heated, or wet and humid conditions.
• Potential hazards include slippery or cluttered floors, sharp objects, hazardous equipment, loud noise, dust, fumes, sprays, and cleaning chemicals.
• Common equipment includes cleaning tools, office equipment, registers, pricing guns, scales, scanners, racks, carts, pallet jacks, and shopping carts; a baler/compactor and box cutter may also be used.
• Required protective gear includes goggles, gloves, and a back brace.
