Role overview
An established enterprise technology organization, through a recruitment partner, is looking for a skilled Field Support Technician in Doha, Qatar. The position suits someone with solid experience in end-user computing, troubleshooting both hardware and software, and supporting senior executives. A valid driving licence is required for this role.
Core IT support duties
- Deliver first- and second-line assistance for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and related peripherals.
- Diagnose and fix problems involving hardware, software, networks, and business applications.
- Install, set up, and support Windows and macOS operating systems along with approved company software.
- Handle support for printers, meeting/conferencing tools, and other office IT equipment.
- Work on incidents and service requests while meeting the expected SLA timelines.
- Record issues, fixes, and workflows in the ticketing platform.
- Support employee joining and exit activities, including preparing devices, configuring them, and collecting them back when needed.
- Liaise with external vendors for maintenance, replacements, and warranty-related matters.
- Provide assistance to users working away from the office or in hybrid arrangements.
- Escalate complex cases to senior support teams whenever necessary.
Microsoft 365 and identity support
- Help users access Microsoft 365 services such as Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Assist with account onboarding and removal tasks connected to identity systems like Active Directory and Azure Entra ID from the device-support side.
- Apply security and compliance controls on employee devices.
Asset management responsibilities
- Take part in IT asset tracking and routine stock verification exercises.
- Explain asset-handling practices and inventory approaches clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Monitor the lifecycle of hardware and keep inventory data accurate and up to date.
Security, process, and operations
- Follow company IT policies, security requirements, and recommended practices.
- Support endpoint security tools such as antivirus software, endpoint protection solutions, and multifactor authentication on user devices.
- Maintain technical records and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to incident, change, and service management activities.
Experience and qualifications
- The role calls for at least 5 years of professional experience in the IT sector.
- At least 3 years should be in IT service management or the end-user computing / equipment domain.
- Prior experience supporting VIP or executive users is essential.
- Strong command of Windows-based environments is required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and basic network troubleshooting is expected.
- Experience using ticketing systems and managed print services is important.
- Familiarity with antivirus, endpoint protection, and MFA tools is needed.
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering (BSc), or a related field is required.
- Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator is preferred.
- ITIL certification or an equivalent IT service management qualification is preferred.
- A valid driver’s licence is mandatory.
